The group will only sell apples of 100% French origin

Intermarché and Netto commit to exclusively sourcing French apples

On 9 January, Intermarché and Netto, part of the Les Mousquetaires group, announced a major shift in their sourcing strategy: they will no longer procure apples from southern hemisphere countries such as Chile and South Africa. Instead, they are "reinforcing their support for French producers and will exclusively sell apples that are 100% French in origin."

By 2024, 96% of the apples sold by Intermarché and Netto will be sourced from France. Thanks to close collaboration with French growers and the availability of a wide range of varieties, the group's brands are now able to ensure the supply of 100% French apples year-round across all their outlets.

This new pledge aligns with the Groupement Les Mousquetaires' broader commitments to Ferme France, announced on 4 November 2024. Among the eight key measures outlined, the introduction of the "Intermarché Terroir" label will play a significant role. The rollout of this label is planned for the first half of 2025, further emphasizing the group's dedication to supporting local agriculture and promoting French terroir, as highlighted in their press release.
