Iran's deputy agriculture minister, Nabi Hadavand, has announced the country's annual apple production figures, estimating them to be between 3 and 4 million tons. The cultivation of apples spans approximately 250,000 hectares across various regions, with West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, and Tehran identified as the leading apple-producing areas.
In a broader context, Iran has witnessed a surge in its agricultural export volumes. Specifically, during the initial four months of the current Iranian calendar year, the nation exported roughly 2.226 million tons of agricultural commodities. These exports, valued at $1.18 billion, mark a 32 percent increase in monetary terms and a 22 percent rise in weight compared to the same period in the previous year, as reported by the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
