Across Lahore, not only did prices of essential vegetables further increase this week; there were reports of massive overcharging on all items. Although local crops of seasonal vegetables arrived in the markets, the rates did not come down. Also, open violations of the rate lists are adding to the miseries of the consumers.
It seems that the district administration is not controlling the artificial inflation created by the sellers by violating the official rate lists. The price of potato soft skin new A-grade reduced by Rs22 per kg, fixed at Rs63-68 per kg, B-grade at Rs57-62 per kg, and C-grade at Rs50-55 per kilogram, mixed sold at Rs80-100 per kg.
