Agricultural enterprises of Belarus challenge difficulties in successful vegetable sales

Agricultural enterprises of Belarus harvested a bountiful vegetable this year. However, the main challenge is not a shortage of produce but difficulties in successful sales.

Despite efficiently using over 90 hectares of land for vegetable cultivation, the enterprise “MVG-Agro” faced challenges last year when only slightly over a thousand tons of the 1800 tons of vegetables allocated to the Stabilization fund were sold.

Local producers of Belarus continue to face challenges due to price control policies that make imported vegetables from Russia and Kazakhstan more affordable despite their higher costs. Retailers prefer selling expensive imports over supporting local products.

The primary goal of the agricultural enterprises is to ensure a consistent supply of vegetables at affordable prices. Achieving this requires support from retail chains and adjustments to pricing policies to make agricultural products available in all stores and prevent shortages.
