Potatoes from Bangladesh see global demand increasing

The demand for potatoes produced in different areas of Bangladesh is increasing in different countries of the world. More and more potatoes are being exported to Malaysia, Russia and Sri Lanka. This year it will be possible to export about 200 tons of potatoes from Sherpur to meet the local demand.

Sherpur District Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said that this year the target of potato cultivation is set at 5,110 hectares. However, the plantation has been much more than this. In Sadar, Nakla, Nalitabari, Sreebardi, and Jhenaigati counties, 88,774 tons of potatoes have been harvested on 5,222 hectares of land.
