"Ruiyu" is a new kiwifruit variety cultivated by Shaanxi Rural Science and Technology Development Center and Shaanxi Bairui Kiwi Research Institute Co., Ltd. after more than 10 years. Since 2018, the cultivation of kiwifruit has been promoted in Zhouzhi and Weinan, the main producing areas of Shaanxi kiwifruit. This year is the first year that the fruit has been launched on a large scale. It is also the first time that this new product has entered a new retail channel.

This year, Ruiyu kiwifruit, which was first released in Hema Fresh, still focuses on "ready-to-eat", and uses Bairui's patented "Pre-cooling and ripening integrated device" to ripen. Zhang Weibo, a fruit purchaser at Hema Fresh, said that in order to ensure the experience of consumers, Hema Fresh has worked with Bairui for nearly two months in the management of the supply chain. They have established standards including 8 categories and 21 small items such as new varieties with an average gram weight of more than 100g, a sugar content of more than 13, and a shelf life of no more than 3 days. Consumers not only do not have to wait after purchasing, but the best flavor period is when the product is purchased, and fruits can also be stored at room temperature for more than two weeks.

Ruiyu withstands high temperatures and achieves a high yield

From July to August this year, the Guanzhong region experienced unprecedented high temperatures and drought. In many areas, kiwifruit leaves and fruits suffered severe sunburn, which had a serious impact on the growth of kiwifruit. Planting bases organize farmers to use sunscreen nets and irrigation to reduce the impact of drought.

Compared with other varieties, Ruiyu has withstood the high temperature and dry weather in Xi'an and shown good drought resistance. This year's high yield makes Zhang very confident in Ruiyu's first market entry. "The first batch of orders will be about 300 tons, which will be launched in the Xi'an area of ​​Hema Fresh, and will be sold outside the province through its national supply chain." The "Ruiyu" kiwifruit started to be harvested at the end of September.
