Climatic factors cause prices of loquats to rise again and again

Recently, loquats in the Chengdu market have mainly been coming from Panzhihua and Liangshan in Sichuan Province. The price has risen significantly compared with the same period last year. Among them, the retail price of Miyi's loquats in supermarkets is about 100 RMB per kilogram. In the early stage, snowfall occurred in Panzhihua and Liangshan and the temperature drop in some areas exceeded 20 degrees, resulting in heavy snows or blizzards that have not been seen in decades.

Panzhihua and Liangshan are important loquat-producing areas in the province. Due to the abundant light and heat resources in winter and spring, Miyi has become the earliest ripe loquat-producing area in the country.

What was the impact of this heavy snow? Has it caused the price of loquats to rise?
Fruit buyers said that the price of loquats in early spring was high every year. This year, the production of loquats in Panzhihua, Miyi and other places in the province decreased. In addition, there was heavy snow in the production area some time ago, resulting in the purchase price of 20% to 30% higher than last year, so the price in the end market has also risen.

Miyi is the largest early-ripening loquat base in China. The loquats produced by Miyi are the earliest in the country. They hit the market in late November every year, which is 2 to 3 months earlier than the loquats in other parts of the country. It is called the "first fruit in the early spring". There are mainly two varieties, 'Zaozhong No. 6' and 'Big Five Star', which have been exported to Canada, Singapore and other countries.
