Frutacloud: there are many uncertainties in fruit and vegetable trade nowadays, but we overcome obstacles together with our strategic partners

"The Chinese market is changing, and we urgently have to follow"

Frutacloud was established in 2016. Their headquarters are in Shanghai. In only five years the company established branch offices in Beijing and Guangzhou. The company also works closely together with teams located in the USA, Chile, South Africa, Peru, and Egypt. This is to ensure strict control over product quality and price right from the beginning of the production process.

George, the spokesperson for Frutacloud marketing, said, "we work hard to set high standards for supply chain of fresh import fruit. Everybody knows that berries and cherries are very sensitive to temperature conditions, so they have high requirements for the supply chain. We thoroughly research supply chain services to avoid problems that stem from supply chain limitations. We have already much improved the supply chain conditions for lychee, berries, and grapes. We reduced the number of intermediaries and made sure the farmers receive a larger share of the profit, while simultaneously making it more convenient for customers to purchase high-quality, low-priced fresh fruit products."

Frutacloud charters several flights per year to satisfy China's growing consumer demand for fresh fruit. They purchase high-quality fresh fruit from production areas and directly fly the fruit to China. Recent problems between China and Australia, as well as the rising shipping cost, both create obstacles for international fruit trade.

According to George: "Frutacloud works closely together with traders in many overseas production areas. We are in a continuous conversation with our partners in production areas to solve problems that stem from a shipping container shortage, shipping delays, and back logs in ports. Our regular import trade in the last few months was not affected by logistical problems at all. The market is always changing and we have to follow market demand, predict market trends, and make timely adjustments to our order volumes. In the end, there are many problems and uncertainties, but we play our own role well, and we overcome obstacles together with our strategic partners."

There have been several product varieties that really 'exploded' onto the market in recent years. When asked about fruit varieties with small import volumes, but the potential to grow large, George replied, "Chinese consumers pay more and more attention to food safety and healthy living, so I think that some organic fruit varieties have a lot of potential in the Chinese market. In addition, I think that peaches have huge market potential because there are many peach varieties and their taste is rich."

In addition to fruit import, Frutacloud is also investing in the development and expansion of the domestic premium fruit industry. "In recent years, while we continue to develop our import trade, we have also invested in the development of the Chinese premium fruit industry. This is the fourth year since we formed a specialist team for domestic premium fruit. We have constructed several warehouses in high-quality fruit production areas throughout China. And we connected production areas with retail channels. We also drew up fruit product standards based on the requirements of different retail channels. And we ensure that production areas meet the standards. And finally, we provide high-quality supply chain services throughout the country."

"In addition to supply chain optimization, we also value food safety, and guarantee product quality. Frutacloud has established a high-quality processing center for domestic premium fruit in Shanghai where products already meet the highest standards in the industry. Frutacloud also obtained China's organic certification, so that they can supply organic products to large numbers of customers throughout the country."

Frutacloud will participate in the Shanghai International Fruit Expo on October 8-10. When asked about his expectations of the expo, George explained: "We are very much looking forward to the opportunity to gather with friends from the industry in this expo that was founded by people from the industry. We cannot wait to share our excellent products with visitors. We will bring our own brand 'kukeye' Thai green coconuts and 'yeqingshuo' coconut water. We warmly welcome visitors to our stand in Hall E5 at booth D4-2."
