China: Price of Harbin mountain grapes higher than usual

This year, it's been difficult to find mountain grapes on the Harbin market. Traders say that this year's prices rose sharply, from 2.8 yuan to 4 yuan per jin.

Low temperatures reduce production and increase prices
At present, the market sells grape varieties such as rubies, rose scent, giant peaks and blueberries. A stall owner who's been selling the product for four years said that the wholesale market had the grapes at 2.5 yuan per jin this year. The purchase price is too high, so it is no longer sold.

Why did the price increase this year? "This year's continuous low temperatures caused a large area of mountain grapes to reduce production or to stop altogether. The reduction in supply caused the price to rise. The staff of the fruit department of Hatha Wholesale Market said, "We sell mountain grapes every year, and we received 30 tons last year. This year it is out of stock. We only received two cars a day or more than ten tons during the National Day holiday. "
