Fresh produce e-commerce market prospering in China

In the last two years, online sales of fresh produce has taken off in China. Current penetration of e-commerce fresh product market is estimated at 1%. The market is expected to grow to 100 billion Yuan by 2017 and 150 billion Yuan by 2018.

The online fresh product trade reached 30 billion Yuan in 2014, an increase of 120% compared to 2013. 

One of the problems the industry is facing is quality control. Most fresh fruit suppliers in the industry are buyers and not producers and these suppliers struggle to maintain a stable quality.
