Makueni appoints Joseph Kioko as fruit authority CEO

The Makueni County Fruit Development and Marketing Authority has appointed Joseph Kioko as its new Chief Executive Officer. Kioko, formerly Managing Director of Kenya Planters Co-operative Union Ltd (KPCU), takes over from Agnes Kitili, who had been serving in an acting capacity. In his new role, the CEO is expected to support fruit farmers in Makueni by stabilising mango prices and reducing post-harvest losses.

The onboarding, held on Thursday, was witnessed by Elizabeth Muli, the County Executive Committee Member for Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Cooperative Development. She expressed confidence that the new CEO will strengthen the county's fruit sector and improve farmer incomes. The authority plays a central role in positioning Makueni as a leader in fruit production and marketing, ensuring farmers receive fair returns while safeguarding the county's mango industry.
