The Union of Potato and Vegetable Growers of Kazakhstan and the Eurasian Trading System Commodity Exchange (ETS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to support domestic producers and strengthen the country's export potential, APK News reports.
The memorandum outlines several key steps:
- expanding potato trading volumes on the exchange;
- attracting new participants to the market;
- protecting domestic growers against import pressure;
- setting transparent price indicators through exchange mechanisms;
- launching joint pilot projects with government and business;
- organizing training seminars and consultations for market players;
- creating a digital platform to track potato distribution between domestic consumption and exports.
"The memorandum will help build a transparent and competitive potato market, strengthen local producers, and boost export potential," said Baizhan Ualkhanov, Chairman of the Union of Potato Growers.
ETS Chairman Kurmet Orazayev added, "Exchange trading gives producers confidence and transparency. Farmers will be able to sell at fair prices, while buyers can rely on the quality and reliability of deals. Our goal is to balance the potato market across regions and reflect its real value online."
