"Together with our growers, we've made a strong start to 2024. Traditionally, we first see the German and Scandinavian retail sectors kick off, and now we're noticing that demand from our customers in other European areas is picking up," says Harm Aben of Dutch company Frankort&Koning. "We're expecting an increase in demand from all over Europe in the coming weeks. Prices are currently at a level that everyone can work with. All seasonal programs will also be in full swing soon, so that fits perfectly!"
Frankort&Koning Group has once again grown in the sales of bell peppers, pointed peppers, but also in the specialties this year. "The so-called color palette of the pepper is neatly balanced and tailored to the needs of our broad customer base. Together with our growers, we can therefore also directly meet customer-specific needs and every week presents a new challenge to anticipate fluctuations in cultivation, but also in demand. It remains a continuous interplay to fine-tune where we can add some extra volume and with which combinations of colors."
"Supply will still be relatively limited in the next fourteen days, but if the good weather from last week continues, we can expect a stable supply again after Pentecost," says Harm, who forms the pepper team within Frankort&Koning, together with Jonas Feenstra in Bleiswijk.
