Parkside introduces recyclable lidding film in the UK

Parkside has introduced a new recyclable lidding film, Popflex, aimed at fresh produce packers and growers to tackle recyclability and consumer convenience. Popflex is designed to stay attached to its PET tray during the recycling process, preventing contamination of other plastics and simplifying the recycling process for consumers. This solution is certified by the On-Pack Recycling Label. Popflex features Parkside's ParkScribe technology, offering a laser-scored opening flap for easy access to produce.

Made from recyclable PET with at least 30% post-consumer recycled content, Popflex represents a shift towards more sustainable packaging by utilizing a mono-PET structure, which is more cost-effective and reduces plastic use.

"Retailer guidelines increasingly demand easily recyclable packaging, and studies show widespread consumer confusion when it comes to which packaging components they can and can't recycle," said Steven Hallford, product development technologist at Parkside. He emphasized that Popflex addresses both recyclability and the need for product protection and accessibility. This launch highlights Parkside's commitment to innovation and sustainable packaging solutions within the fresh produce sector.
