Various US agri products identified as having strong potential in South Korean market

Ag Secretary Karen Ross and other agricultural leaders from California have recently concluded a trade mission to South Korea, led by Alexis M. Taylor, Under Secretary for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs. The delegation, consisting of representatives from 49 US companies and organizations, aimed to explore and expand market opportunities for California's specialty crops in South Korea. Taylor highlighted the mission's focus on showcasing and potentially increasing exports of California's fresh fruits, tree nuts, and specifically nectarines, to meet the growing demand and interest from Korean consumers.

During the mission, a variety of US agricultural products including fruits, vegetables, nuts, dairy, eggs, coffee, distilled spirits, pet foods, and consumer-packaged goods were identified as having strong potential in the South Korean market. Taylor emphasized the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) commitment to market diversification and the importance of South Korea as the fifth largest market for US agricultural products.

The trade mission to South Korea is part of a series of international efforts aimed at enhancing market access and building relationships for US food and agricultural exporters. Taylor also mentioned an upcoming trade mission to India, highlighting the Biden-Harris administration's recent success in reducing tariffs on certain US products, as an opportunity to further expand US agricultural exports and rebuild market share in India.
