The DB12 automatic inter-row mower, produced by BFM Italy since 2011, has become a point of reference for many farmers, not only in Italy but also in many European countries and North America. It is one of the 25 models produced by the company, and with its automatic system and dual steering on the tractor, it can perform its operations with complete safety.
"We sell an average of over 450 DB12s each year in Italy, Eastern Europe, France, Portugal, Spain and the USA. More and more growers are considering the use of mechanical weed control to manage weeds along the rows. This is a sustainable method of cleaning the crop. It also produces organic matter after cutting. The DB12 is ideal for vineyards, orchards and nurseries. Its small disc size and mechanical adjustments allow it to adapt to all types of terrain. You can use any tractor, even an old 20hp one, to run the mower," says Fabrizio Bertoluzzo (pictured below), owner of the company, which designs and manufactures agricultural machinery for hilly areas.
Four models - small, medium, large and extra-large - allow this mower to be used in orchards with a wide variety of row spacings and crop arrangements. These range from a row width of 1.40 m / 1.60 m up to 5 m.
The mower disc makes a 90 cm diameter cut through its wires and then sweeps the ground through the levelling disc. "The DB12," continues the manager, "is a reliable machine with a long service life. It also requires very little maintenance. It has a speed of 1900 rpm. The mower is equipped with a 100-metre line box to maximize uptime. We supply the wheel adjustment levers, the hydraulic control valves and a set of control levers for a self-propelled lawn mower. It is impossible to predict the market for new agricultural machinery as they are bought as and when they are needed. However, we can say that even in this historical moment of uncertainty, nothing seems to dampen the interest in buying an efficient and sustainable machine. The fact that the models have been on the market for more than a decade is also an incentive for its purchase."
