France: Apricot price hits rock bottom

On average the French consumer pays 2.73€/kg for a kilo of apricots. This is 30% less than last week and much lower than last year, when the price in the same week was 3.75€/kg. This was announced by Relaxnews. Every Wednesday Relaxnews registers the price of over 150 fresh products in 150 large and medium supermarkets throughout France,

The nectarines are also experiencing a strong price decrease compared to last week: the price for a kilo of nectarines has decreased by -24% to 3.93€/kg. Unlike the apricot price the price of nectarines is much higher this week than it was in the same week a year ago (2.63€/kg). The cherries are cheaper than last week, at 5.22€/kg, compared to 6.68€/kg last week. The average price last year was 4.63€/kg.
The price of strawberries is increasing now the season is ending. A kilo of strawberries costs €5.94 this week. This is 11% higher than last week. The price is lower than last year when the average price in the same week was 6.75€/kg.
Relaxnews also noted a clear increase in price for cauliflower. This is 9% higher than last week, at €2.18 a piece. Compared to last year the price is 4 cents higher.
