In other production areas in Sicily, Toscana, Apulia and Calabria regions, the nursery area where citrus in pot is growing reaches less than 25 hectares. Annual production amounts about 3.1 million of units, three quarters of which are destined for export to central and northern Europe.

During the meeting it was reported on the market situation of pot citrus growing and the need for innovation in the product. Through a DVD, participants had the opportunity to take a virtual walk in the "Hesperidarium" citrus garden of an Italian.Shape and colour variability of fruit and foliage were highlighted as well as some "historical" varieties of lemon, cedar and bitter orange.
The results of CRA-ACM research into pot citrus growing were presented. In particular, the evaluation of more than 100 genotypes (varieties and hybrids), carried out in a Sicilian nursery for two years, gave value to genotypes such as Fingered cedar, ISA red lemon, AMOA 8 hybrid.

During the meeting, participants were able to appreciate the attractive qualities of plants on display: 4 hybrids coming from the crossing Meyer lemon X chinotto, 3 hybrids coming from the crossing Meyer lemon X double blood orange, 1 selection of Fortunella hindsii, 1 hybrid coming from the crossing oval kumquat X Fingered cedar, 1 hybrid coming from the crossing oval kumquat X Citrus limettoides.
