The Charles Island had approximately 21.000 boxes on between 420 and 430 pallets with bananas for AgroFair on board. These bananas, packed under the Oké label, will be sold mainly to Switzerland and Finland. These are the bigger markets for Fair Trade products in Europe. There were also organic bananas on board and they will be sold under the Ekoké label, mainly in Austria.

Representatives of AgroFair and European Max Havelaar organisations
Erik Goetschalckx of Bonita said that the Charles Island is one of the biggest reefers of its kind, because it has a length of 180 meters and a width of 25 meters. The Charles Island sails between Ecuador and Belgium and arrives every five weeks in the port of Antwerp.
