Yellow and cylinder-shaped dates
Israeli Bahri dates at BUD Holland

Tholen - Today, the first Israeli Bahri dates are arriving at Bud Holland in Maasdijk. Depending on the availability of and demand for these dates, they will be sold during the months of August and September. Corrie Visbeen says demand for dates is very good at the moment. “We have almost sold out,” she says. This Monday there will be a new arrival.

The Bahri date has a yellow color and is cylinder-shaped. The dates can generally be described as yellow, but the colors differ from amber to dark brown when they are truly ripe. “The special quality about the Bahri dates is that you can eat them at this stage, while most date varieties have to dry before they become really tasty,” says Corrie Visbeen.

So, the Bahri date has a lot of flesh and is not dry. This explains the reason for them being available for such a short time only. This is the first variety of the new season and the dates are only exported still hanging from the branch.
