"Over the last two seasons, there have been some problems caused by climate change, with insufficient cold for the fruit to ripen properly. We were forced to shorten the campaigns and speed up the harvest to protect the fruit. Luckily, the weather so far this campaign has not taken a toll on the crop and we have high expectations. The exportable production is estimated to reach around 22,800 tonnes," affirms Pereda.
It is also worth noting that mangoes are a competitive product and that a growing number of producing countries are interested in their marketing. The improvement of all necessary processes and the reduction of costs are necessary for producers to achieve higher returns. "The quality of our mangoes has not been affected at any time; after each year that passes, Peruvians learn more about quality management, so we are constantly improving. And if we take into account that Peruvian mangoes taste good and are appreciated worldwide, the future looks bright for us mango producers," concludes the representative of Tropicorp.
