US (OR): Strawberry growers optimistic

Strawberry farmers in Talent, Oregon, have remarked on the improved health of their strawberry crops this year. The owner of Antonio Farms said now is the beginning of the strawberry season.

He said he couldn't grow the crop the last two years due to the drought. But with full reservoirs, Antonio Ruiz is hoping for a successful summer.

"These new plants are doing really well. We have plenty of water this year so I hope by the middle of the season it will be much better for me," Ruiz said.

If the season goes well, the farmer said he'll open picking to the public by August. This would be available into the fall.
