Hiram Herver, Inverafrut:

"We work with Persian limes 52 weeks per year"

Inverafrut is a Mexican trader of agricultural products with 14 years' experience, mainly devoted to the Persian limes, Valencia oranges and Cavendish bananas, in addition to courgettes for the United States and a little bit of ginger.

Its main markets are the United States and Europe, especially the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and France. As for the Asian market, the company exports to Japan, but not to South Korea, as the latter requires certifications. "We are currently in the process of obtaining a Fairtrade certification," explains Hiram Herver, of Inverafrut. "There is demand for organic products, with which we can offer added value to our customers." Moreover, China will soon remove its tariff barriers to Mexican limes, so the company will be able to start exporting Persian limes there.

"We work with Persian limes 52 weeks per year in the European and U.S. markets. Prices vary, depending on the market and the season," explains the exporter, adding that competition takes a greater toll on prices in the U.S. market rather than in Europe, where the market itself sets the prices.

"Soon, we will open new branches in other markets," he concludes.
