Russia: Chelyabinsk gives fund compensation to greenhouse complex

Regional funds compensation for Agapovsky Greenhouse Complex: 10 million roubles.
Village Agapovka in Chelyabinsk region. The funding of the biggest greenhouses of the region was promised by the Head of Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Sergey Sushkov, this week.

Among the biggest are Agricultural complex in Churilovo and Greenhouse complex in Agapovka. According to Sushkov, the mentioned enterprises are due to receive the allowance for expensive equipment. 20% of the costs is to be refunded.

Meanwhile, the Head of Chelyabinsk Government, Sergey Komyakov, affirmed the decision to allocate 10 million roubles from the regional funds.

“Greenhouse vegetable-growing has already shown good results, the Head of Ministry of Agriculture said. The total area of the modern greenhouses will increase by 8.8 ha and will comprise 36.7 ha”.

According to the data of Ministry of Agriculture in Chelyabinsk region, in 2012 self-sufficiency in greenhouse vegetables equalled 5%, as compared to 16% in 2013. In 2014 the number of vegetables grown in greenhouses is expected to be 19,500 tonnes. By 2015 this figure is to be increased to 22,400 tonnes, i.e. 50% of all the vegetables yearly consumed in the region. Thus it will provide people with sufficient amount of fresh vegetables throughout winter.

It is noted that construction works of Agapovsky Greenhouse Complex started in 2011. As a result, an ex state farm “Teplichny” was rebuilt into a greenhouse with modern vegetable-growing technologies. Nowadays the complex occupies an area of 8.8 ha, 140 people work here.
