After almost a year of having signed the Free Trade Agreement with Colombia, and in a follow-up report of such agreement, the Department of Commerce of the United States announced a ten percent growth in trade between both countries.
Colombia exported goods to the United States for an amount close to 24,700 million dollars, a figure never before reached.
The sectors that benefited the most from these exchanges were: flowers and floral ornaments, fruits, preparations of fish, aluminium doors and windows, precious metals (gold), sugar, oil and coal.
For its part, United States exported products to Colombia worth 14.340 million dollars, a 12 percent growth.
Colombia is the fourth country with the highest growth in exports to the United States after Saudi Arabia, Japan and India. It even ranked higher than countries such as Italy, Germany, the UK and China.
