Philippines: Agrinurture expands banana cultivation for exports

Agrinurture recently acquired a P1 billion banana plantation in Mindano to help boost sales in export markets.

Antonio Tiu, Agrinurture CEO reported the purchase of the plantation, which covers 1,000ha.

The additional land will increase volumes of bananas by around 40,000 tons. Planting will begin later this year.

“We are looking into shipping our produce to China, the Middle East, Japan and Korea,” Tiu said. Exporting to China “will not be a problem”, he added, even after the country imposed a more stringent protocol last year.

The company already ships a range of fruits to China.
