Italy: Cells and trays for fruit and vegetables

Pulp cells and FulVue and ShoPak trays are among the many solutions offered by Retarder, a Piedmontese company specialised in packaging and technological instruments to improve the conservation and shelf-life of fruit and vegetables.

Pulp cells
Pulp trays and cells have been created for the packing, transportation and stocking of apples, pears, tomatoes, melons, stone fruit, avocados and other fruits. Each tray has been specifically designed to offer the maximum cushioning and protection to the product. They are available in a wide range of colours and sizes.

"We have a wide range of trays for 60x40 cm corrugated cardboard boxes and reusable plastic crates depending on the fruit that needs to be packed (55-100 mm) and on the number of fruits for one or two layers. For the standard 50x30 cm tray pack there is another range of trays for apples with a 51-100 mm diameter," the company explains.

Trays for apples and pears are available in the following sizes: 60x40cm, 50x30cm and 40x30cm. Melon trays can be inserted in standard 60x40 or 40x30cm boxes. Sizes and models can vary according to the diameter of the fruit (from 90 mm to 135 mm). The range of products can also vary according to the needs of the market.

FulVue and ShoPak trays
FulVue fruit trays are slightly curved and have a crease at the centre of the base. They are ideal for fresh products such as apples, pears, kiwis and stone fruit.

ShoPak fruit trays are sturdy, with a flat base. They are ideal for vegetables such as peppers, tomatoes and chicory.
