US (CA): Heavy volumes of citrus continue to be shipped

Deciduous tree fruits, nuts and grapes: Early varieties of stone fruit continue to bloom. Pruning of stone fruit and pomegranate trees and grapevines continues. Tying of canes in vineyards is still being performed. Mechanical and chemical weed control is being performed. Fungicide applications continue to be applied to late tree-fruit varieties. Nuts are being exported pecans to Korea, walnuts to Hong Kong and pistachios to European Union. Irrigation of orchards continues because of the lack of seasonal rains.

Citrus, avocados and olives: A minimal amount of freeze damage continues to be found in packed citrus fruit. Heavy exports of navel orange varieties continue to Australia, Korea, New Zealand, Japan and China. Minneolas are being exported to Netherlands, Japan and New Zealand. Lemons are being shipped to Australia, Japan, China and New Zealand. Melogold grapefruit, Cocktail and Pommelo harvest is winding down. Pruning of olive orchards continues. Valencias will begin to be harvested in the following week. Spraying is being performed to control weeds in orchards.

Vegetables, melons and berries: Winter vegetables are being grown by certified producers for local farmers markets. Strawberry plants continue to grow in fields at some roadside stand locations. The first planting of summer vegetables has been delayed this year. Broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower continue to grow and be harvested.
