Chile: Blueberry season has peaked

From now onwards a decline is anticipated in export volumes of Chilean blueberries. Output is reduced at this stage in the season and shipments will reflect this. From now on weekly export will not exceed 4,000 tons.

The Southern area is currently the focus of the harvest, with varieties such Elliott and Brigitta. So far the harvest in the South has been concentrated as temperatures have been high.

Up until February 4th harvest in the region was 12% up on last year's production over the same period.

The previous week's export was within the expected range and reached 5,100 tons. To date the total volume is 15% higher than at the same time last season, at 67,500 tons. This covers 85% of total estimated volume for the season.
