US: United Airlines launches new LA - Tokyo route
United nonstop flight 32 departs Los Angeles at 11:15 a.m. every day, arriving in Tokyo Narita at 4:10 p.m. the next day. Return nonstop service UA33 leaves Narita at 5:55 p.m. and arrives Los Angeles at 10:35 a.m.
“These far-reaching markets demonstrate the unique size and range opportunities of the Dreamliner, because nobody else serves markets such as Denver-Tokyo. It is the ideal aircraft for long-range routes with lower demand,” said Robbie Anderson, president, United Cargo.
“With 44 more firm-order 787-8s on the way, we are very excited about the new wide-body route opportunities we will offer our customers,” he said.
United says an important cargo benefit of the 787 is that it handles the same container types as the popular Boeing 777. This facilitates seamless load planning for shippers. Operators of the 787 have garnered impressive cargo payloads exceeding 15 tons per flight on long-range routes.
