AU: Cold weather pushes down Summer fruit prices

Queensland fruit growers are worried that the unseasonably cold weather in the country's south will make it difficult to market their summer produce.

As snow fell in some southern states, watermelon prices were halved within a week.

Chinchilla watermelon grower Darryl O'Leary says growers need to also look more carefully at their marketing.

"A lot of us just seem to think that we can grow 'X' amount and whatever we want to plant, but the market's just not there all the time."
