Cuba: Production surplus anticipated

Farmers of San Nicolás, Mayabeque, Cuba are expecting a production surplus of herbs and vegetables this season.

Domingo Perdigón Castro, chief of Suburban Agriculture in San Nicolás, stated that organic resources are employed to improve the soil. These include humus and organic fertilizer, even though they are not yet up to par. He said there is much collaboration with cooperations like Cooperativas de Créditos y Servicios (CCS).

Castro has advised farmers to stick to the sowing schedule and to obey regulations implemented by the Grupo Nacional de la Agricultura Urbana.
