Taking into account that Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) are becoming more important every day, ensuring that our export crops are safe and healthy for consumption is of growing importance. the GLOBALGAP standard (the most globally widespread certification) was designed primarily to provide the necessary confidence.
The GLOBALGAP standard establishes parameters of respect for the tasks used in agricultural production, minimizing environmental impact by reducing the use of chemical products, among others. Making it almost an obligation for producers and agricultural exporters to get to know first hand the changes in its approach and reach of the new 4.0 version.
In that sense, Agraria.pe interviewed Kenlly Mora Vargas, Integrated Service specialist for the "Prosperidad Ambiental Solidaria" (SIPAS - Costa Rica), who will give the specialized course "Good Agricultural Practices according to GlobalG.AP 4.0V for fruits, vegetables and Grasp (Social Assessment for farms)" and specified the main changes in the new numbering of certification.
First, the management of areas for segregation and traceability of certified products and those without, and second, assessments of general risks, focusing on food safety, water management, health, worker safety, status of productive of agricultural areas, food defense, limits of pesticides residues and organic fertilizers.
Third, the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) as a mandatory requirement to demonstrate techniques of prevention, monitoring and defined thresholds used for intervention to control pests. Fourth, animal activity related to pre-harvest and fifth, evaluating social practices applicable to all modules of certification of GlobalG.A.P (new module).
