US: Starr Ranch Growers stone fruit update

The 2012 Starr Ranch Growers cherry season is approaching the mid season point and though the crop has had issues with Mother Nature, Starr Ranch are starting to get in to their orchards. Now is the time of the season's second peak, right through to the end of the month.

The biggest cherries of the season are starting to dominate the pack outs and the timing could not be better for those July ads. This time of year it's not only large volume but good size and lots of sugar! These higher elevation cherries are the sweetest of the season with amazing color - a perfect reminder of summer.

Retailers are being advised to keep displays at the center of attention. Starr Ranch say this is the best time of the summer to make the cherry impact.

The Washington stone fruit category is said to be excellent this year, with good color, size, flavor and volume in Starr Ranch apricots.

Fresh peaches and nectarines are also beginning to come off the trees now and will be in full swing by the end of the month with a plentiful crop.
