In Denmark, the area used to grow organic products is larger than ever. There are also more organic agricultural and horticultural companies. The Danish government and Danish political party, Dansk Folkeparti, have decided to free up €18 million. This extra money will be used to enlarge the country's organic acreage. These additional funds mean that there will be €30 million available in total. By 2020, this increase will give Denmark an organic acreage of 300,000 hectares.
In 2018, 325 organic growers and farmers joined the organic sector. Now, there are almost 4,000 companies, in total, that use this country's organic trademark. "The switch to organic farming has increased job opportunities. This is good for the Danish foodstuffs industry. It also provides Denmark an income from exports," says Dansk Folkeparti's Lise Bech.
