Chile: Fruit exports grow by 6.13%

According to information from Expordata ASOEX, export of fresh fruits in the 2018-2019 season (from 01-09-2018 to 21-01-2019) amounted to 695,218 tons, i.e. 6.13% more than in the same period of the 2017-2018 campaign.

ASOEX notes that all target markets register an increase in Chilean fruit exports. The United States leads shipments with 221,230 tons (with increases of 13.2 on the East Coast and 10% on the West Coast). It was followed by the Far East with a total of 211,970 tons, and an increase of 3.5% compared to the same period of the previous campaign. Europe ranks third with 118,184 tons and an increase of 3.6%. Canada registered 9,792 tons, and an increase of 0, 98%, and finally exports to the Middle East amounted to 1,781 tons and had an increase of 15.1%.

In terms of species, cherries lead the shipments with 180,718 tons, reflecting a slight -1.32% decrease; it was followed by avocados with 125,137 tons, and a decrease of -2.02% in relation to exports on the same date of last season.
