Potato network utilizes bloggers to promote recipes

Side Delights® launched another food blogger challenge as part of its influencer marketing program to share potato recipes. In the latest campaign, food bloggers were asked to “Pick your new favorite potato recipe” from the Side Delights recipe database on its website.

The company says the on-going program engages relationships with food bloggers, home cooks and food influencers who are using potatoes and sharing their recipes through the bloggers’ social media channels, thus building brand awareness. The blogger posts and photos link to the Side Delights® website and are amplified with social media posts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Past challenges like #MashItOrSmashIt, leveraged the mashed potato trend during the holiday season, and #PotatoSaladRedux used Side Delights® Steamables™ potatoes to create twists on potato salad recipes during the summer season.

The new contest, “Pick your new favorite potato recipe”, challenged 10 bloggers to select their favorite recipe from the Side Delights® website recipe database. Each blogger prepared it, photographed it, wrote about it and then posted it to their audience. This challenge had an extra twist, in that bloggers encouraged their followers to go to the website and select their new favorite potato recipe, entering them into the consumer contest. One lucky consumer won an Instant Pot, and the blogger whose follower who won the random selection pick, was awarded the opportunity to go on a farm tour at one of the Fresh Solutions Network® partner farms.

The consumer winner was from Pennsylvania, and his entry was incentivized by blogger Lori Monte, chef, owner and author of The Kitchen Whisperer. Monte thus won the opportunity to tour Masser Potato Farms in her hometown state of Pennsylvania. Her favorite Side Delights® recipe that she featured on her blog, was South Western Stuffed Potatoes.

“The great thing about this challenge, was that it encouraged bloggers to share Side Delights® recipes with their followers, and engage them in a fun contest,” said Kathleen Triou, President and CEO of Fresh Solutions Network. “Consumers who follow Lori’s blog were able to explore the scope and scale of the Side Delights.com recipe data base, and experience the amazing farming practices behind the potatoes through Lori’s posts about her visit.”
