At the beginning of October, the Flanders’ Agricultural Marketing Board (VLAM) from Belgium was at the World of Perishables (WOP) international trade fair in Dubai. Dubai is part of the United Arab Emirates. This Middle Eastern hub is a growing import market. Three other Belgian companies, Pacbelimex, the Hoogstraten Cooperative, and BelOrta joined the VLAM at this trade show. They were all seeking opportunities for Belgian products.
There were 162 stallholders from 31 countries represented at the WOP Dubai. They displayed their specialties to the more than 4.000 visitors from 82 countries. The trade fair welcomed nine country pavilions - Australia, Belgium, China, France, Morocco, Moldavia, Malaysia, Greece, and Portugal. The large Chinese delegation was especially noticeable.
The VLAM booth looked good with an extensive product exhibition. Here, visitors were introduced to the range of Belgian fruit and vegetables. Classic products, as well as specialties, were on offer. These products on display were in response to the high interest from the region. VLAM also introduced guests to the flavors of our products. They brought a chef along who prepared snacks for the visitors.
VLAM's participation in this trade show is part of the European ‘Premium quality, perfect taste – Straight from the heart of Europe’ campaign. From next year, VLAM's export promotion will focus on other regions. European subsidies will again be made available for this.
