Vachamon Awards 2018 attendee hopes to boost apple and pear imports in Thailand

Golden Bay Fruit, an apple grower-packer-exporter in the Southern Island of New Zealand attended the first edition of Vachamon Awards last 22nd September 2018, a new concept gathering the top 100 wholesalers in Thailand.

GBF, via Julien Baumann – its SEA Business Development Manager, introduced new apple and pear varieties on its dedicated colourful booth. Cherish™ apple already delighted Thai customers at Tesco Lotus this season, and Miranda apple, its new yellow-green variety, surprisingly sweet, is going to do the same.

Also displayed the bright red sweet Piqa®Boo® pear, not yet exported to Thailand but which should get all the favours of Thai consumers once the market access will be granted.

“Thai wholesalers are very curious about new varieties, and always eager to know more about them.

They were all attracted by the distinctive colours of our 3 main new varieties, but also pleased by their sweetness”, said Julien Baumann.

“Differentiation is everything for them. For us, the most important was to get their feedbacks so we can confidently continue our journey and develop the production to reach their needs!”, Julien added.
