Vietnam’s Dong Thap province is threatened by dangerously high water levels in the Mekong Delta, as are the major fruit crops grown there. Local authorities have deployed various flood prevention plans to protect the fruit.
With more than 7,000 hectares of fruit plantations, the Lai Vung district boasts the largest fruit plantation in Dong Thap province. However, now the lurking water is making local farmers uneasy about their crops.
Dong Thap province is home to some 30,000 hectares of fruit crops, ranging from mango, longan to citrus fruit crops. Local authorities and residents have join hands to prepare contingency plans to protect fruit crops from impending floods.
