The Indonesia Ministry of Agriculture continues to improve the quality and quantity of the nation’s orange fruit production. One of them is through the development of orange seed centers, like those in Purworejo Regency. This is known as the center of citrus seeds to meet the needs of citrus growers in the surrounding districts and between islands.
Citrus and other fruit groups like mangoes, mangosteen, crystal guava, cashew nuts, jackfruit, star fruit and avocado are important for other provinces, like Sumatra, Kalimantan Sulawesi, Bali and others.
The Director General of Horticulture at the Ministry of Agriculture said oranges are a strategic commodity for import substitution. The seeds are developed in large quantities to meet the needs of the region: "The area of citrus cultivation has reached 50,000 hectares, spread out over most districts. This is according to the direction of Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman to boost production and prosperity among the farmers."
