An entrepreneur has set up a major apple production area in Siirt, a city located in southeastern Turkey. The apples grown here are currently being exported to Russia, India, Libya, Lebanon, Jordan. Qatar, Iraq, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Company partner Kasim Ceylan: “We have a production area of 30 million square feet and we grow apples in 70 % of it. In the rest, we grow apricots, plums, pears and blueberry.
We have made significant steps in apple production over the last year and we have a cold storage facility with a capacity of 5,000 tons.
We were the first company to set up a greenhouse in Siirt and now other companies are following our example which creates a lot of economic activity in the city. We are currently in the process of setting up sales offices throughout Turkey and to create a brand for our products. Currently we create employment for 300 people but that number may increase to 1,000 people in upcoming years. “
