Russia to ban imports of fruit from Serbia & Macedonia starting August 15

Russia plans to impose a temporary import ban on some Serbian and Macedonian fruits from August 15. The reason given by Russia’s food safety regulator on Friday was ‘food safety concerns’.

The regulator said it had found the Monilinia fructicola fungus in Serbian peaches and apricots imported after July 13. It claimed to have also found the same fungus in batches of fruit from Macedonia.
