Vietnam made 1.2 billion US dollars in revenue from the export of fruits and vegetables to China in the first half of this year; up 18.1 percent compared to the previous year, as announced by Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Commerce on Thursday.
In the same period, China maintained its position as the largest Vietnamese vegetable and fruit market, followed by the United States, with sales worth $ 50.9 million, up 14.6%; Japan, with $ 46.7 million, up 8% and South Korea, with $ 46.5 million, up 15.4%.
Between January and June, Vietnam exported two billion US dollars' worth of fruits and vegetables; up 20% compared to the previous year.
Vietnamese experts in trade and agriculture attributed this great growth in the export of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables to the widespread application of clean production processes and conservation techniques.
To date, Vietnam has exported fruits and vegetables to 60 countries and regions worldwide. The Asian country made more than $ 3.5 billion in exports of fruits and vegetables last year; up 43.1 percent compared to 2016.
