Paul Turner stepping up

PMA Australia-New Zealand welcomes a new director

Paul Turner, Merchandise Manager - Produce - at Woolworths Supermarkets has replaced Scott Davidson on the Produce Marketing Association Australia - New Zealand (PMA A-NZ) board. Scott has recently moved to New Zealand to take up the role of General Manager - Buying & Merchandise for Countdown.

‘I thoroughly enjoyed my 4 years on the PMA A-NZ board’, said Scott. ‘Not only did it provide me with an opportunity to contribute to the produce industry at the highest level, it also provided me with an opportunity to work with some of the most talented and strategic industry leaders across Australia and New Zealand.’

Joe Craggs, the Sales & Marketing Director of Tropical Pines and Chair of the PMA A-NZ board, welcomed Paul to the board and acknowledged the significant contribution that Scott has made over the last 4 years.

“Scott has been a great member of the team and a true advocate for the people in our industry. We thank him for his valuable contribution and wish him and his family well in New Zealand. I’d also like to welcome Paul, with his extensive produce experience and am looking forward to working with him.”

Paul Turner is a passionate retailer with over 32 years in the food industry. In his role as the Head of Produce in Woolworths, Paul leads the commercial and operation teams along with Woolworths supply partners to deliver fresh produce to the customers shopping in stores spread broadly in all states around Australia.

‘My job role has many functions but what brings me the most pleasure is continuing the growth of produce sales and encouraging Australians to increase their consumption of healthy Australian grown produce’, said Mr Turner.

‘It’s a privilege for me to be invited to join the board of the PMA-NZ continuing a longstanding tradition of Retailers participating more broadly in the development of the horticultural industry in Australia’ he continued.

A critical component of the PMA A-NZ ethos is volunteerism, and we would not be able to do what we do without the involvement members on our Board and taskforces. Any members interested in standing for the PMA A-NZ board at the 2018 AGM which will be held in Sydney in November should contact PMA A-NZ CEO Darren Keating at d.keating@pma-anz.com.
