Innovations in packaging
There were some new products here and there, but in limited amounts. Clearly, the organic category continues to grow. Most innovations however were noticed within the packaging segment with a growing emphasis on more earth-friendly packaging. Reduction of plastic by replacing lids with films as well as working with recyclable materials are noticeable trends.

Meal-kit solutions
In addition, meal-kit solutions and on-the-go products continue to expand. Complete wrap kits and soup kits that contain fresh ingredients and make a healthy meal in a matter of a few minutes is one of the noticeable newcomers. In addition, exhibitors had on-the-go veggies as well as snacks that include fruit, cheese and crackers on display.
This year, Fresh Summit partly overlapped with Fruit Attraction in Madrid, resulting in some people traveling half the globe in just a few days. It also required some organizational skills as some companies had booths and/or company representatives at both shows. Next year, the shows will be organized a week apart from each other. PMA Fresh Summit will be held in Orlando from October 18-20, 2018.
