The biggest marketing cooperative in Israel will start exporting organic products, as of the coming season. With the entrance of new growers that also grow organic citrus and new partners to the company in last December (Avocado Gal agricultural cooperative), Galilee Export will now enter into organic marketing.
The exporter expects to send most volumes to Europe. "As always we are relying on our growers and, as their marketing arm, we will handle all the products aimed for export. Organic has its limits in regards to shelf life, that is why Europe will be our main destination. Also the prices will be higher for organics," told Dror Eigerman Galilee Export CEO.
Robert Morris, the company's Organic Product Manager, who joined the Galilee export team recently in order to develop the Organic department says that there is a high demand from the clients and they are waiting anxiously for the product to arrive in Europe.
"Our biggest line will be Organic Red grapefruit that is expected to be in Europe mid-November but beforehand we will have a nice quantity of Organic Sweetie that will hit the markets towards the end of October, later on in the season we will also have some organic mandarins. Other available Organic products are dates and green skin avocados," says Robert Morris.
