September is National Mushroom month

'Shroom Cam' puts the spotlight on mushroom production

The mighty mushroom may be nature’s hidden treasure, but for National Mushroom Month (September), the Mushroom Council’s new ‘Shroom Cam' will reveal its unique production story to consumers nationwide.

The 24/7 livestream, available at ShroomCam.com, will place an insightful eye on beds of button mushrooms growing at a farm in Landenberg, Pa.

On its social channels and through media outreach, the Mushroom Council will use the ‘Shroom Cam to educate consumers on mushrooms and spotlight its sustainable production process.

“Is mushroom production glamorous? No. Is it fascinating and beautiful? Yes!” said Bart Minor, president of the Mushroom Council. “Growers produce mushrooms indoors on a year-round cycle, on vertical stacked beds in dark, moist rooms – requiring very little water and energy*.”

“The ‘Shroom Cam will help us show consumers, in a fun and engaging way, one of agriculture’s most unique stories.” Minor added.
