"The main production region for green figs in China is the Jiaodong peninsula in Shandong. Red figs have a production surface that is widely spread. In North China, cultivation with installations is most common. In the South, cultivation is mostly outdoors. In the past few years, as the popularity of figs has increased, the cultivation surface of figs is also growing. Compared to 2016, it is estimated that the total production will grow by 20% in 2017. This coincidently meets the daily growing demand on the market, so the market price of the figs has remained stable," says Miss. Chen Junmiao from Beijing Guoran Guomei Trading.

"The company has a demonstration orchard with standard installations in Beijing. The orchard is located in the Tiankai Huahai tourism district, with plans to expand the surface to 6,666 hectares. Here 13 varieties of figs with different shapes and colours are cultivated and the organic cultivation and growing process is on display for all customers. Moreover, the company also has 9 other organic cultivation grounds in Hebei, Tianjin, Beijing, Shandong and Henan. The total cultivation surface at this point is 86 hectares, with an annual production of 1.75 million kg. The production season lasts from June to the end of the year and can even be prolonged to 8 months. That means around 240 days of harvest."
