Winners of the big mahjong tournament
On March 21st 2017, the first USA's Washington tournament in mahjong successfully took place in the Jiangnan wholesale market in Guangzhou (Guangdong province). Aproximately 110 people participated in the event, among them were fruit importers, distributors, retail merchants and supermarket buyers.
The tournament is heating up
The tournament was in two parts and took place between 1PM and 6PM. After 6PM, participants could take part in a formal dinner. Washington's apple society has two main goals for this tournament. First of all, on ordinary days, employees in the fruit market are all busy with operations, so it is hard to find time to have dinner together. During this tournament everybody had an opportunity to connect and exchange ideas and thus understand their counterpart's requirements and information better. Also, with the help of this tournament, the USA's Washington apple society can pass on more new information about the apple season to relevant people and allow them to understand the new production season better.

In March 2016, the first edition of the Washington mahjong cup was organized at the Shanghai Expo. The event overall received favorable reviews, so it was decided to continue events in all four of the big fruit markets in China. The next events will take place at Beijing's Xintiandi market and Shenyang's Jiangnan supermarket.
